Why this stage matters

Angular powers many enterprise, banking, and government products, and those jobs pay well and stay stable. Modern Angular is very different from what older tutorials show: standalone components, signals, new control flow, and zoneless change detection make it simpler and faster.

What to learn

1. Must know

   Components, Templates & Control Flow

   Mark as done

   Standalone components, template syntax and bindings, inputs and outputs, and the built-in @if, @for, and @switch blocks.

   You're done when

   • You build features with standalone components only, no NgModules.
   • You use @for with track and know why track matters.

2. Must know

   Signals

   Mark as done

   signal, computed, effect, linkedSignal, and signal-based inputs: Angular's modern reactivity model and the path to zoneless apps.

   You're done when

   • You manage component state with signals and derive values with computed.
   • You know when to use a signal and when RxJS is the better tool.

3. Must know

   Dependency Injection & Services

   Mark as done

   inject(), providers and their scopes, services for shared logic, and HttpClient with interceptors for auth and errors.

   You're done when

   • You can explain the difference between providedIn: 'root' and a component-level provider.
   • You wrote an interceptor that adds an auth header and handles 401.

4. Must know

   RxJS

   Mark as done

   Observables, subscriptions, and the operators you use daily (map, switchMap, debounceTime, catchError, combineLatest), plus interop with signals.

   You're done when

   • You can build a debounced search with switchMap that cancels stale requests.
   • You never leak subscriptions (async pipe, takeUntilDestroyed, or toSignal).

5. Must know

   Routing & Forms

   Lazy-loaded routes, guards and resolvers, and Reactive Forms with typed form controls and custom validators.

   You're done when

   • Your feature routes are lazy-loaded.
   • You can build a dynamic form with typed controls and cross-field validation.

6. Learn next

   Angular SSR, CLI & Testing

   Mark as done

   Server-side rendering and hydration with Angular SSR, the Angular CLI and its builders, and unit and component tests.

   You're done when

   • You can add SSR to an app and verify its pages are server-rendered.
   • Your services and components have meaningful tests.

7. Optional

   State Management at Scale

   Mark as done

   Signal-based services first; NgRx (including the Signal Store) when many features share complex state. Analog is the Angular meta-framework if you want file-based routing.

   You're done when

   • You can justify when a project needs NgRx and when a signal service is enough.

Common mistakes

• Learning from pre-2023 tutorials full of NgModules and *ngIf. Use angular.dev, not old blog posts.
• Subscribing inside subscribe. Use RxJS operators to compose streams.
• Adding NgRx to a small app. Start with signals in services.
